iPod Shuffle
If you exercise and don’t have the iPod Shuffle, you are making life a little harder than it needs to be. Personally, I consider this product an absolute must. It’s small, lightweight, and can carry 2GB of music. Its clip makes it wearable. Whether you run or lift weights, the Shuffle (nor cord of the headphones) will ever disrupt your workout. The best part, it retails under $50.

iPod Nano
If you are willing to spend a little bit more money, you can get the iPod Nano. For about $100 more than the Shuffle, you get a touch screen, FM radio, pedometer and up to 16GB of user content. It’s small and also has a clip, making it great for exercising. Put simply, it’s an iPod Shuffle with more features.

JUMPING EQUIPMENT
Vertical Challenger
If you are serious about measuring your vertical jump, the Vertical Challenger is the product to have. It reaches up to 12 feet and measures your vertical in 1 inch increments.

Just Jump System
The Just Jump System is nice if you don’t have the space for the Vertical Challenger. Its hand held computer displays height and hang time of jump. (One flaw: jumper has to land straight legged to receive an accurate reading.) It also has features that measure foot quickness, leg power, and fatigue. Good for testing athletic performance and great for charting rehabilitation.

WEIGHTED VESTS
Valeo 20-Pound Weighted Vest
This vest definitely gets the job done, but it has its disadvantages. Since I have a slim torso, the adjustable straps are ineffective. It fits loose and flops around. Performing cardiovascular exercises like running and jumping rope with this vest becomes a hassle. However, the vest works great if you simply want to add weight to your walks, hikes, lunges, pull-ups, squats, and any other slow and controlled activity. Also, the weight is adjustable.
MiR 50-Pound Weighted Vest
Put simply, this is the best weighted vest I have come across. It’s a little more expensive but definitely worth your buck. It can weight up to 50 pounds. The weight is distributed evenly and fits higher and tighter on your torso, which makes it much better for your core.
